Brussels is full of great places to eat and drink - while beer is the local go-to, here are some of our favorite wine bars in the city!

When it comes to culinary delights, Brussels never fails to impress. While Belgium may be world-renowned for its exceptional beers, this captivating city also offers a vibrant wine scene that deserves equal attention. Here are some of our favorite wine bars in Brussels, where you can indulge in the art of wine appreciation amidst the city’s gastronomic wonders.

Tarzan and Jane

Tarzan and Jane have a wide selection of natural, ethical wines. Those working there are welcoming and very helpful guiding in choosing the right wine, especially when (like me) you might not know so much about natural wines! With unpretentious waiters, keen to guide you and explain the wines based on your preferences, it is a wonderful spot for an intimate date near tons of restaurants in the area like Car Bon and Voisin.

In the warm months, the bar overflows with tables on the street corner, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere, while in the winter, Tortue transforms into a cozy haven with foggy windows.

 Calmos

Calmos epitomizes the trendy, laid-back vibe of late-night Saint Gilles. As a beloved local haunt, it’s the quintessential hangout for night owls and wine aficionados alike, offering a curated selection of wines that perfectly complement the neighborhood’s eclectic energy. The ambience is perfect for an evening of relaxation and socializing, making it the go-to destination for those looking to capture the essence of Saint Gilles’ vibrant nocturnal charm. Whether you’re out for a casual drink or a  night of mingling, Calmos Wine Bar is where the pulse of the district can truly be felt.

Fermento

Fermento Vine Bar in Brussels is a gem for wine enthusiasts, located just between Place Fernand Cocq and Flagey. The sommelier is not only knowledgeable but also approachable and friendly, making each visit a personalized experience. With its popularity among locals and visitors alike, it’s advisable to arrive early, preferably before 6 PM, to secure a spot in this coveted haven for a relaxing drink in a welcoming atmosphere.
