I first came here on a super rainy day (not an uncommon occurrence here in Brussels), and although the concrete and shadowed interior would initially strike you as cold, this café has a wonderful, welcoming feel to it. Brussels has a burgeoning coffee culture, with only a few truly good cafes scattered largely throughout the city center and Saint-Gilles. Jackie is certainly a frontrunner in Brussels coffee culture. It is not to be missed, and I am sure once you go, you will most certainly be back!
Jackie is great for a solid cup of specialty coffee, but it is also an excellent place to bring a book… or grab one of the many magazines around (and for sale) to catch up on some current events. On the second floor there is a small “lap top” area, where you can pay 12 euro (which includes two drinks) and use the space more for co-working.
The menu is small, but great if you are looking for a light lunch/brunch or snack with your coffee. It’s really the coffee that shines at Jackie. Also upon further inspection of the Jackie menu I noticed a commonalty between the names of the dishes – seemingly all named after First Ladies of America. Perhaps something to do with “Jackie” Kennedy?
- Amazing coffee and treats
- A welcoming place to sip your coffee in silence or with a friend
- Please open in Etterbeek or Uccle where good coffee is desperately needed!
- I don’t recommend the bagels
