Jane’s

Jane's is now closed and has been replaced by Chez Lutgarde. Classic drinks, lost of wine. Great spot in the neighborhood with plenty of space to drink and nosh.

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by an adorable shabby dog. The dog went from table to table greeting every guest while monitored from the owners that turned out to be guests, too. Jane’s provided a bowl of water: cute!

With the casual atmosphere and SOMETHING menu, it is clear this bar is a local favorite. The attentive, but laid back, service, and SOMETHING made it the perfect spot for a quick pre-dinner drink.

Despite it being 19:30 – I ordered a Bloody Mary, and it was one of the best I have had in a long time. Rob had a solid and strong Dark and Stormy. These simple, yet well made drinks were the perfect start to our evening, and it would have been easy to stay and explore the somewhat comprehensive wine list chatting away, as many of the other groups of friends and couples had seemingly settled in to do around us.

Dark’ish interior with wooden elements, stylish lights that gives the room a warm, welcoming, cosy accent. The long open bar welcomes to sit, discuss, inform about their new wines – which are mostly natural or organic origins.

The bar is situated next to the famous Chausee de Waterloo where many prestigious restaurants and bars are located. Not a bad neighbourhood for a wine bar which makes it predestined as a meeting point or starting location for an extended date night or simply a cosy place to meet friends and enjoy some good wine.

Oh, we still need to get to meet and mingle with Jane.

Pros
  • Casual
  • Good list of organic wines
  • Dog greeter (at least on the night we came!)
Cons
  • Honestly – none…?
  • more here to be developed
