Pura Vida Keym

This is an adorable brunch/tea place, way off the beaten path of the city center.

From the outside you would never tell what a cute and inviting interior this place has to sit and enjoy some tea/coffee and treats! I fortuitously stumbled upon this place with two friends while on a bike ride, and will definitely return as an excellent hide-away from busy Brussels on the quiet streets of Watermeal-Boistfort.

Pura Vida Keym is a tea place for sure, but the coffee is excellent, as is the selection of treats, both healthy and sweet!

Inside there is a lovely area for kids to play, as well as an interior courtyard. There is lots of great natural light and a sky light, making it the perfect spot to spend some time if/when Brussels winter gets your down. There are many food options, from traditional tea fare, to hearty salads and tasty desserts (lots of those), as well as a wide variety of teas… not to mention the fanciful colors of the drinks and pastries. To top if all off, the service was excellent!

Pros
  • Off the beaten track

  • Very kid friendly

  • Perfect for a solo trip

Cons
  • Honestly – none…?

The Chatelain Quarter in Ixelles is a lively, chic neighborhood with a cozy, village-like feel. the area is full of stylish boutiques, and trendy cafes and nice restaurants. The area’s crown jewel is the Place du Chatelain (currently under construction), a central square where you’ll find the famous Wednesday food market, a perfect spot for Wednesday night oysters and bubbles.
